India and China: Conflict, Competition, and Cooperation in the Age of Globalization

India and China are two of the world’s most ancient civilizations. For centuries they shared advanced ideas, inventions, religious and philosophical traditions. But their economies and societies stagnated during the colonial period. In the post-colonial era mutual relations suffered a setback due to political and boundary disputes. In contemporary times they have reemerged as leading techno-economic nations. It is high time for them to move beyond conflicts and start cooperating politically, economically, and technologically for mutual benefits.

Recent developments and exchanges indicate that the ball is already rolling in that direction. Globalization for common good requires coming together rather than falling apart, sharing resources and assets rather than wasting them in endless conflicts. In the context of currently shifting global political and economic power, no two nations are better equipped than India and China to show the world how the common concerns of humanity can be addressed through mutual respect, friendship, healthy competition, and sharing of resources.

Indian army's cyber terrorism strategy

The Indian Border is not the only
place where our Defence Forces
battle against enemies to protect
us, but also face attacks in the
Digital Area. Attacks on the
Indian cyber space are
multiplying by the minute. This
increase is not just in the
frequency but also in the
complexity of the virtual assaults.
Such cyber strikes are launched
by hackers who mostly hail from
Pakistan and China, who in verity
rob more than six million
electronic files worldwide every
day. It is also true that a new
malware was developed every
0.79 seconds totaling the
number of malwares to a
staggering 25 million in 2009.
This definitely corroborates the
fact that the Indian army would
undergo constant cyber threat
which could take the shape of
denial-of-service cyber-attacks
or lethal computer viruses. The
requirement for Cyber-Security
in India is still due to be fulfilled.
Are the Defence forces geared
up to counter this battle; which
apparently seems more deadly
than violent missile strikes to
most army officials? Well, the
Indian military force has decided
to extend the ‘cyber-security’
from the level of divisions
(which are basically field
formations with over 15,000
troops) to the Top Military Brass.
All data, information or facts
related to the Indian army and
defence forces will be secured
via electronic passwords with
zero possibilities of hacking
them. The integration of
cryptographic systems and the
Computer Emergency Response
Team (CERT) to Defence Systems,
would quarantine viruses,
worms, malwares and avoid
cyber attacks that are aimed at
the army’s intelligence and
information systems.
Besides this, army officials also
plan to carry out cyber audit
procedures handled by the Cyber
Security Personnel as per
security standards ISO 27001.
Such audits along with
measuring performance of the
Defence Systems against
established standards also help
in detecting loopholes in the
present security systems. Army
officials have also started
upgrading their security systems
accordingly owing to the
dynamic nature of cyber threats;

China's strategy around India. STRING OF PEARLS.

The Chinese “String of Pearls” strategy around India appears to be have broken.

By definition, the “String of Pearls” describes the manifestation of China’s rising geopolitical influence through efforts to increase access to ports and airfields, develop special diplomatic relationships, and modernize military forces that extend from the South China Sea through the Strait of Malacca, across the Indian Ocean, and on to the Arabian Gulf (USAF Lieutenant Colonel Christopher J. Pehrson, “string of Pearls: meeting the challenge of china’s rising Power across the asian littoral” July 2006, Strategic Studies Institute, United States Army War College).

Around India, the Chinese pearls include Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles and Pakistan.

Currently there might be no comprehensive policy by the current Indian government to contain it, but, a mix of luck, some policy, some internal and external events seem to have worked in favour of India.

Myanmar ( Burma): Sittwe Port, Coco Island, Burma Hianggyi, Khaukphyu, Mergui and Zadetkyi are the main names associated with Chinese interest in Myanmar. India shares a border of more than 1,600 kms with Myanmar. Myanmar also serves as a gateway to South East Asia and ASEAN and is supposed to be the Eastern Flank to the Bay of Bengal.

“Look East” policy by former Indian Prime minister, Father of Modern India, Hon. PV Narasimha Rao, had brought Myanmar in Indian sights. Subsequently, India had toned down its criticism of the junta, supplied Myanmar with military spares, joint action on rebels in each others borders and offered economic co-operation. Vice Senior General Maung Aye visited India from 2 to 6 April 2008. During his visit, The Kaladan Muti Model Transit Transport Project agreement was signed which saw India gaining access to Sittwe. India also signed Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement with Myanmar. India and Myanmar are engaged in various sectors like cross-border developmental projects, trade, IT, Telecommunication, hydrocarbon etc.

Myanmar does not lean towards China or India. It makes best of the competition between China and India which are competing for Myanmar’s resources.

Bangladesh: Bangladesh currently has an India friendly government and army. Before this Bangladesh had an anti-Indian government and Army. China had taken full advantage of it.

Nepal: China and India are currently locked under a tussle over Nepal. China can do little but has increased considerable influence with the Nepali Maoist. India is not expected to loose its clout in Nepal.

Sri Lanka: This is another area where China is trying to influence. Hambantota port is being developed by China and China is a supplier of military wares to Sri Lanka. Indian influence in Sri lanka is not expected to be lost.

Maldives, Mauritius and Seychelles: china is trying, but, it is not successful in getting ports or bases in these countries due to Indian objections.

Pakistan: Pakistan is currently involved in counter insurgency in its own country and has a very heavy US influence. Pakistan proxy is not currently available to China due to US influence. Gwadar port, which was built with Chinese assistance is under the management of Singapore based company. Chinese have not been able to complete central Asia – Gwadar link due to US influence and Indian friendly government in Afghanistan.

There are two more countries that are within the Chinese String of Pearls strategy, i.e, Thailand and Cambodia. Thailand has a proximity with Indian Andaman and Nicobar Island. India needs to work on relations with Thailand. Cambodia is currently of less direct significance to India.

For china, the fight for dominance over these regions is not yet over as it needs to secure its energy and trade route with Middle East and Africa. India needs a strategy to keep these gains and discourage Chinese dominance within Indian Ocean.

Do u know ------ AZAD JAMMU AND KASHMIR

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
AS A INDIAN CITIZEN YOU MUST NEED To HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT HAPPENINGS AROUND INDIA.

You must be knowing that during 1947 Pakistan attacked on Jammu and Kashmir and captured many parts of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan . The south western narrow strip of Pak occupied kashmir is declared as independent state Azad Jammu and kashmir(shown in map) by pakistani government.

It borders the present-day Indian-controlled state of Jammu and Kashmir to the east (separated from it by the Line of Control), the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan to the west, the Federally Administered Northern Areas (FANA) to the north, and the Punjab Province of Pakistan to the south. With its capital at Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir covers an area of 13,297 square kilometres (5,134 sq mi) and has an estimated population of about four million. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are together referred to in India as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is a self-governing state under Pakistani control but is not constitutionally part of Pakistan. It has its own elected president, prime minister, legislature, high court, and official flag. The government of Pakistan has not yet allowed the state to issue its own postage stamps, however, and Pakistani stamps are used in the state instead. Azad Kashmir has it own Judiciary. Azad Kashmir's financial matters, i.e., budget and tax affairs, are dealt with by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, rather than by Pakistan's Central Board of Revenue. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council is a supreme body consisting of 11 members, six from the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and five from the government of Pakistan. Its chairman/chief executive is the president of Pakistan. Other members of the council are the president and the prime minister of Azad Kashmir and a few other AJK ministers.

You must have noticed that no country in the world uses the word independent as in the case of azad kashmir ,this word is used to fool the people to have them a false feeling of independence. The government of azad kashmir sees interest of pakistan but not of azad kashmir .The pakistani government has formed azad kashmir so due to various reasons. 1- They wanted to have a false print on the world that Pakistan freed kashmir and India is still capturing major parts of it. 2- To convince the people residing there that pakistan supports the freedom of kashmir.3- To give a strong reason to terrorists to free the rest of the kashmir.

This place is very much famous for its natural beauty but pakistani administration has converted it into a hell as Pakistan uses its ground as base camp of Terrorist activities. the standard of living of people is very low, there is less freedom of speech as compared to India's rights. It is better to ask about condition of Azad Kashmir to its people living in foreign nations rather than its indigineous people.
The actual situation in azad kashmir is that only its name is azad but its people are not. People cant have democracy. People do not have proper basic facilities. The politicians there gets a big amount from pakistani government and doesnt look after people. In spite of these india administrated kashmir is having a much better living standards. Jinnah created Pakistan on the base of religion difference but we can say that his theory of one nation one religion has failed as within 25 years of creation of pakistan in 1972 eastern pakistan - present Bangladesh was separated from pakistan and now also there is a strong revolt in pakistan. Means to say that pakistan has failed to satisfy people with its government. Also seeing the ill condition of azad kashmir we can say that autonomy is not a proper solution for any territorial difference dispute.
